Vivienne Mugford, of Embankment Road, Kingsbridge, writes: I object in the strongest terms to waterskiing being allowed on the Salcombe-Kingsbridge estuary. It would be a disaster for the many wading birds that we are privileged to host; all of the wildlife using the estuary would suffer and probably go elsewhere, with increased pollution, noise and wash eroding the foreshore; and the tranquil nature of our estuary would also be lost to we humans, many of whom find particular peace and beauty in the Frogmore spur. Waterskiers already have the nearby coast to enjoy their sport and a part of the Avon. I can see no possible reason to compromise this important wildlife habitat, which is enjoyed also by so many walkers and users of wind-, oar- and paddle-powered craft in their peaceful way, for the benefit of a small number of waterskiers, who have other permitted places nearby.
