A water main has burst in Salcombe, flooding Fore Street once again.

South West Water closed a section of Fore Street during Salcombe Regatta last summer, closing the road for days.

A SWW representative said: "We are currently attending a burst water main on Fore Street, Salcombe, which was reported to us this morning, Tuesday, March 13.

"A road closure is in place to make the urgent repair, which will be done today. However road resurfacing means the road will re-open tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday, March 14. The council has requested a full road width reinstatement, given recent resurfacing work.

"We apologise to road users for any inconvenience caused and would advise those visiting the centre of Salcombe today or tomorrow to park away from Fore Street.

"Last year South West Water undertook a sewer replacement scheme on Fore Street and offered to replace the water mains at the same time. However we were unable to proceed with the water main replacement as it required a two-week closure."
