OVER 30 people of all ages helped beat the inner bounds of South Brent parish in glorious sunshine. The walk started at Gidley Bridge over the River Harbourne, where Brent's new village cryer John Gaskin introduced councillor Glyn Richards to give the traditional loyal address to the assembled walkers. After passing through Thynacombe Wood, the walk continued to Harbourneford and Marley Head before crossing Marley Thatch and Lisburne farms. After passing the new solar array at Shorter Cross, the bound-beaters were met by Robert Savery who guided them across Lincombe, Walkers were then welcomed by the South Brent Action and Community Group who provided hot and cold drinks, before the expedition continued up to Dartmoor, past the Charford Manor to Horsebrook. The event finished late in the afternoon at the Turtley Corn Mill where every participant received a personal commemorative certificate and a welcome hot dog and drink. Walk leader, Tim Ferry, said: 'We've had a great day and I am especially grateful to Rob Illman and his colleagues from the Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team, Ashburton, for their safety and first-aid support. 'I'd also like to thank the wonderful young people from the South Brent Dartside Explorer Scouts for helping us over the many fences and gates on the route.' The beating of South Brent's outer bounds is due to take place in 2016.
