A collection of local makers, artists, vintage sellers and independent businesses will come together for a month-long pop-up market at Dartington’s Cider Press this September.

The Vintage, Upcycled & Makers Pop-Up Market, organised by Miss Ivy Events, will run from September 3 to October 4, opening from Thursday to Sunday between 10am and 4pm.

Visitors can browse a range of products from independent traders, including original artwork, ceramics, glassware, jewellery, vintage and retro clothing, homewares, sustainable gifts, textiles, and upcycled items.

Locally produced food and drink will also be available.

Unlike a traditional market, where individual traders are required to staff their own stalls, the event will operate as a curated shop, allowing visitors to browse products from a variety of independent businesses under one roof.

Organisers say the September event follows an earlier pop-up at the Cider Press and forms part of a wider ambition to attract more visitors to the site while celebrating independent businesses and creative talent from across South Devon.

The venue also provides an opportunity for visitors to make more of a trip to Dartington, with two hours of free parking, dog-friendly facilities, nearby cafes and independent businesses, and riverside walks close by.

Trader stories, demonstrations and special activities are also planned during the month, giving visitors the chance to meet some of the people behind the products.

Jo Macaskie, founder of Miss Ivy Events, said the initiative was launched to give local makers, producers and independent businesses an affordable and welcoming place to showcase and sell their work.

She said the aim was also to bring “new energy and visitors” back to the Cider Press.

“We’re incredibly excited about this new venture and hope to establish the Cider Press once again as a vibrant destination for shopping, events and community experiences,” she said.

The Vintage, Upcycled & Makers Pop-Up Market will take place at The Cider Press, Shinners Bridge, Dartington, from September 3 to October 4.

It will be open Thursday to Sunday, from 10am to 4pm.
