MALBOROUGH now has a circular walking route around the village as their new footpath opens.
Members of the parish council, Malborough Village Hall and Playing Fields Association and the Salcombe View Residents Association came together on Tuesday morning to cut the ribbon to the new path.
Malborough Village Hall and Playing Fields Association donated the land for the new path which borders the Cumber Close estate. Where there is access from Cumber Close to the playing fields, you can now turn right through the new gate and access the footpath.
Parish councillor Kathy Harrod said: ‘Although dogs are not allowed on the playing fields, dogs are welcome on the path and there are dog bins on either end, where gates mean they can be let off the lead.’
Funding came from a bid to the SHDC Town and Parish Fund by the Malborough Parish Council.
Various village groups and organisations worked together to bring this project to fruition, including the Malborough Parish Council, Malborough Village Hall and Playing Fields Association and the Salcombe View Residents Association.
