Velarde Gallery in Kingsbridge is presenting its new exhibition ‘Small Things Considered’, celebrating the quiet power, intimacy and detail of small-scale art.
It is being held between Saturday, October 3 and Thursday, December 24.
The exhibition brings together over 35 established and emerging artists, it explores what happens when artists are challenged to work within deliberately limited dimensions.
A Spokesperson for the gallery said: “From painting, collage and photography to tapestry and original printmaking, these are not studies or stepping stones towards something larger, but complete and considered works in their own right - small in size, but rich in thought, detail and feeling.”
“In a world where size can often be synonymous with spectacle, Small Things Considered celebrates another kind of impact: quiet, intimate and considered.”
They will also be unveiling new work by Conor Trapnell, winner of the 2026 Velarde and Arts University Plymouth South West Arts Graduate Award (SWAG).
Conor was selected for this year’s award following his graduation with a First Class BA (Hons) in Painting, Drawing & Printmaking.
As part of the award, Conor has received tailored mentoring and the opportunity to develop a new body of work for his first professional exhibition at Velarde.
Conor’s practice is centred on play, experimentation and process.
Working across painting, printmaking and image transfer, he embraces chance and instinct, allowing materials and unexpected outcomes to shape each piece.
The result is work full of curiosity, freedom and the creative possibilities of making.
