TREES to commemorate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee have been planted in Victoria Park, Ivybridge.

Town mayor Cllr Frances Reeve planted a royal oak sapling to commemorate this year's monumental occasion and Year 6 children from the Erme Primary School planted over 100 trees/ shrubs in the park with assistance from Helen Parr of the Woodlands Trust.

The trees were provided free of charge by the Woodlands Trust to groups who wished to commemorate the jubilee.

Cllr Reeve said: 'To plant the tree to commemorate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee was an absolute honour and it was a delight to plant with the children from the Erme Primary School.

'I look forward to seeing the trees grow and the children will also be able to see the growth as they mature with age.

'It was a thoroughly enjoyable day and the kids were well prepared to get planting.'
