The Guildhall welcomed visitors in for a festive open day.
On Thursday, December 13, there was a steady stream of visitors, many of whom had never been inside the town council owned building. They were shown around by councillors and staff to see the Council Chamber, Mayors Parlour, Clifton Room and the fabulous Ballroom.
Everything in the historic building has been decorated and carefully restored from the superb oak panelling in the chamber to new staging and stairs in the Ballroom.
All of these rooms are available to hire and the team at Dartmouth Town Council were delighted with the turnout, particularly after all of their hard work getting everything ready for visitors.
There was even a very cute four legged guest who was very pleased to look around and have a dog biscuit from Cllr David Gent.
The town council hopes the open day inspires people from the area to consider the Guildhall as a venue when planning an event.
Just this week the Guildhall has hosted a beautiful Christmas themed wedding and you can be sure whatever the occasion, the Guildhall will help to make it a memorable one.
In addition to making the venue more accessible to the general public, the town clerk has some Councillor Café events planned for January and February for anyone who may be interested in becoming a councillor.
These ‘café’s’ will be run to inform people exactly what the position entails and how it can be very rewarding work.
More details on this will be published across the town council website and social media platforms.
If anyone could not make our Open Day, and would like to have a look around the Guildhall, the staff would be delighted to do so.
