NICHOLAS DAVIES, of Britannia Avenue, Dartmouth, writes:

Sacrilege! Sacrilege! Yet another of our beloved town businesses will close at the end of this month due to doubling rents and development plans. And who is responsible for this outrage might I ask?

Dartmouth's Harbour Bookshop is one of my favourite haunts in this town.

Being an avid reader there is almost nothing that cannot be obtained there.

Once I ordered a book there which initially could not be obtained. After waiting a few months I cancelled the order and found a secondhand copy a while later.

Imagine my shock and surprise when I was called to the desk three years later and was told that my book had arrived.

Where else do you get such a committed service nowadays?

You don't get that with internet shopping, supermarket offers and all the other easy shop rubbish you get these days.

The shop staff are always friendly and very helpful and you nearly always come out with something , either what you wanted when you went in or found while browsing.

I, for one, and doubtless many others whose letters I've read recently, will feel this loss very deeply indeed and will miss its presence greatly.
