Anne Boxwell, of Orchard Way, Chillington, writes:

Once again I return to my car in the quay car park in Kingsbridge to find I cannot get into my car due to the car next squeezing into a space and effectively blocking my door.

This is not the first time this has happened. It means I have to climb through from my passenger door to allow me to get in. I have trouble with my knees and this doesn’t help at all.

The spaces are definitely getting smaller whenever the council remark them, and as cars are generally getting bigger I’m sure I’m not the only one finding this difficulty.

I don’t drive a 4x4 or other big vehicle and the car next to me was a mini, so we were not exactly over our space limits.

We pay nearly the highest fees in the country for our parking and are always being asked to support the local town for shopping etc.

Please, next time the park is remarked, allow a bit of room for people to exit their cars once parked. Perhaps it will mean losing one space per row, but it will help people such as myself, who aren’t classified as disabled but who do struggle with some movement, not to become trapped and unable to gain entry to our vehicles.
