Beer Festival raises record funds for charity on anniversary.

The 10th anniversary of the Wellington Beer and Gin Festival raised a record sum of £2700 for charity. The event was on May 28 at the Creek’s End in Kingsbridge, and was in aid of Motor Neurone Disease.

The festival boasted six Devon beers, local cider, and gin tasting. Live jazz music was provided by Blues Monday, the Totnes Jazz Workshop Band.

The festival started in 2009 as a beer festival to raise funds for research into the MND Association.

The selection of beers this year were donated by Black Tor Brewery, South Hams Brewery, Hunter’s Brewery, Teignworthy Brewery Ltd, and Salcombe Brewery Co.

Cider drinkers had two ciders to sample from Hunts Devon Cider Farm and Apple Cottage Cider.

In 2017 the festival added gin to the list of beer and cider which featured again this year.

The gins that were donated included Salcombe Gin for a second year, Beefeater Pink from Creeks End Inn, Tarquin’s Cornish Dry Gin from Kingsbridge Wine Room, and a new gin called Distinctly Dartmouth. The mixers were provided by Folkington Juices and Heron Valley, with fruit and extras from Tesco Kingsbridge.

The organisers thank the sponsors for beer, cider and gin; their regular sponsors who cover the cost of souvenir glasses; Terry and Yvonne and the Creek’s End staff who hosted the event; Barry Cooper and Blues Monday for providing some relaxed music; and to everyone who came to support.
