I am sure there will be many pictures of the regatta, so may I say how great the fair was this year? The new ride, with its ­graceful, colourful spire, was a great addition, and for me a real joy to fly gently over the trees and see the town and river spread out before us.

Jonathan Hawkins and the team, working with Mr Rowlands, produced one of their very best shows and I am already looking forward to next year’s, when once again Dartmouth will come alive with generations of families meeting up to enjoy the colour and fun that is generated by the traditional summer entertain.
