BEAVERS from the Sixth Kingsbridge and First Modbury Scout groups came together to celebrate their 30th birthday.
The groups joined together on Saturday, July 2, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the formation of the youngest section in Scouting.
35 boys and girls aged from six to eight-years-old took part in 30 challenges which included a trail around Kingsbridge Recreation Ground, a mini sports day, decorating biscuits, making birthday cards, a scavenger hunt and taking part in a Tae-kwon-do taster session led by Leslie McGhie of South Hams Martial Arts.
Later, the Beavers sat down to a birthday tea organised by parents, followed by a slice of birthday cake and singing ’Happy Birthday’.
South Hams assistant district commissioner of Beavers, Julia McGing, who organised the event, said: ‘We had a brilliant day celebrating 30 years of Beaver Scouting and the weather was on our side! The Beavers arrived at 10am and left shattered at 5.30pm, having spent a day busy with activities, and with a birthday badge to wear on their uniforms.’
