PAUL ANTILL, of Highfield Drive, Kingsbridge, writes:
I have over the years noticed the price of fuel at my local petrol station being several pence over other petrol stations not too far away. This now seems to have increased further.
Just a few days ago, I filled up the tank in my car at a petrol station in Plymouth, saving a full 7p per litre. The fuel was of the same brand sold in Kingsbridge!
As my car holds over 70 litres, I saved a whopping £5.
I know a little bit about fuel distribution, and if the vendors claim that they are further from the tank terminals at Plymouth, then why is fuel still cheaper at Exeter or Torquay?
I do not know if the prices are controlled by the Co-operative, but if they are, then surely this benevolent organisation should give the hard-pressed citizens of the South Hams a break.
If they are not controlled by the Co-operative, then surely it is time our council should make moves to recruit a supermarket chain in, to take over or offer completion?
