A ten-year-old West Alvington Primary pupil is asking for donations to be sent to the British Virgin Islands after they were devastated by Hurricane Irma.
Alex Morgan wanted to help after seeing the destruction left after the storm on the TV. He said: “We should help, they have been mashed. They have nothing and we have spare things. I really want to help the people in Tortola who got mashed but being 10-years-old it is really difficult to get people to listen to me.
“I want someone to tell the people of Kingsbridge that I want to help by donating clothes and need help to get it to London.”
Alex’s mum Sarah explained that the family have a connection to the Caribbean and Alex has visited the BVI when he was younger.
They have contacted BVI House who have a container of donations leaving the UK at the end of the month and are looking to transport clothes to London and get them on to that container.
“We need clothes, shoes, bowls, cutlery and especially bras”, Sarah explained, “and we need a driver to be able to drive the donations to London to meet the container. They need to be at BVI House by 5.30pm on Wednesday, September 27.”
If anyone has any donations, Sarah will come and pick them up for you. If you can help, either with donations or driving, email her on [email protected]
