A talk by Rear Admiral Bruce Williams CBE will be the star attraction at a charity coffee morning next week.

The Cottage Hotel in Hope Cove are hosting a coffee morning next Thursday, May 31, in aid of local churches, with a ‘Boat and Beach’ jumble stall, books, plants, cakes, bric-a-brac and a raffle. But the main attraction will be Rear Admiral Williams giving a talk entitled ‘36 Years of Making Mistakes’. Clive Higgs, church warden, said: “We really wanted to make this year’s coffee morning a little different and the talk will be very interesting listening to the mishaps, errors and victories of Navy life and will begin around 11.15am. So come along, have coffee and biscuits and browse the stalls.

“We already have some great items for the Boat and Beach stall but we are asking you to dig out those items you have not used for a while.”

If anyone has any items, contact Clive on 560423 or Bruce Williams on 561621 to arrange drop off or collection.

The event will be open from 11am-12.30pm, and all the proceeds are for the benefit of St Clement’s Church, Hope Cove, and Holy Trinity Church, Galmpton.
