A SUPERMARKET in Kingsbridge has raised £1,513 for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
Staff at the shop set up a number of eye-catching charity initiatives to increase awareness and encourage donations including tombolas, raffles and bake sales.
Manager Gary Wills said: ‘The RNLI is always close to the hearts of our staff and customers in the south west, with their donations speaking volumes.
‘Spreading the message of ‘Respect the Water’ is such a vital part of our community and here at Tesco we are committed to supporting the great work the team at the RNLI do throughout the year.’
Stella Kubale, RNLI senior corporate manager, said: ‘We’re delighted that Tesco organised this fundraising weekend across their stores in the south in support of the RNLI.
‘Our volunteer lifeboat crews and lifeguards are only able to carry out their lifesaving work thanks to the generosity of our supporters and corporate relationships such as this.’
The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea. They provide on call 24-hour lifeboat search and rescue service around the UK and Ireland, and a seasonal lifeguard service. With their lifeboats, lifeguards, safety advice and flood rescue, they are committed to saving lives.
The RNLI relies on volunteers and voluntary donations to operate their lifesaving service.
