SUN, sun and more sun has shone on Kingsbridge Fair Week.
Rafters, gymnasts and musicians have wowed crowds the throughout the opening of the annual fair week.
Musical entertainment was provided on Friday night by K-Town Acoustics run by Ian Feetenby and Martin Jackson, which featured some highly talented young musicians, and other activities and events began on Saturday morning with the junior crab-catching competition, which saw plenty of young crabbers catch a whopping 871 crabs in total by the Crabshell.
While many enjoyed the morning farmers market, the five-a-side football competition was getting underway at the rugby club.
Unfortunately there were no junior entries this year but the adults competition was well attended with Quay Pub beating Start Bay in the final.
Revellers enjoyed the funfair on the Quay during the afternoon while being amazed at the Kingsbridge Gymnastic Club display. Routines included somersaulting over over club members and a stunning tumbling, dance and balance exercise.
Following the acrobatic display, the fair week crowning ceremony was held and this year's queen Sophie Lamble, 13, was crowned at the bandstand by last year's queen, Denise Allen, with this year's princesses Emma Holt, Tia Wong and Isabel Bodman also in attendance.
Sophie read out the fair week declaration with confidence, which was followed by speeches from fairground owner David Rowland and fair week president Roger Honeywell and chairman Harriet Temple.
The action then took to the water with the hugely entertaining raft race.
Some stunning rafts were topped off with wonderful fancy dress outfits including St George's crusaders with a dragon on board belching coloured smoke. The usual barrage of eggs and flour bombs whistled through the air between competitiors.
Fair week spokesman Carol Horton said: 'This was one of the best raft races we have ever had. There was a wonderful turnout and it was great fun for the raft racers and spectators.'
After all the mayhem, Blackout on board Skull BMW took first place, followed by Beech Boys on Wind Break and third place went to Misfits on board Flags.
Live music was enjoyed from the bandstand on Saturday evening and there was plenty more excitement throughout Sunday.
The boules competition on the town square was enjoyed by many with The Blazers, made up of Chris Heard, Kevin Sedgeman and Martin Piper taking the top prize ahead of the Warriors.
Another well attended event on Sunday was the sandcastle competition on the town square, which was won by Katie Stich in the up to age three class. The three-seven class was won by William and Lilley Cox, with Charlotte Allen triumphing in the over seven class.
The sandcastle competition was followed by the pavement drawing contest, also on the square, with Sarah Coole winning the under seven class and Rebecca Elliot winning the over seven class.
The ever popular 'Real' Crazy Quiz proved a great success at 7pm on the square, led by quizmaster Steve Mammett.
Winners on the night were the Jolly Millers with a grand total of 108 points, which was just enough to beat Quiztema Aguilera and Fifty Shades who both finished on 105 points.
Monday saw the baby competition take place in the Kings Arms with four categories depending on ages of up to six months, seven to 12 months, 13 to 18 months and finally 19 to 24 months.
The dog show took place in during the day in Duncombe Park and it was very well attended.
Later, a brand new event for this year, the family tag rugby event was a great spectacle at the rugby club.
A Texas hold' em poker tournament was held on Monday in the King of Prussia, with adult pool competition scheduled for then moved to Thursday and Sunday.
On Tuesday, events included a junior pool competition at the Regal Club, adult crab catching at the Crabshell, darts at the Royal British Legion's Mill Club and bingo at the leisure centre.
Wednesday featured the lantern parade and firework display and yesterday's attractions included the teddy bears picnic and, fun run and 10km race.
Today's events include the three-legged race from the town square at 7.30pm.
Tomorrow, the grand carnival procession starts from Waterside Park at 6.30pm.
