WALKERS took to the coast path and lanes of the South Hams at the weekend for the annual Challaborough Challenge in aid of Ivybridge pancreatic cancer charity The Operation Henry Trust.

Two groups of supporters walked 15km and 8km on Sunday, fundraising for the charity and its quest to raise awareness of the disease. More than £500 was raised through the event.

Local business Portcullis Legals entered the largest team. Boss Trevor Worth said: ’Although the hills and terrain were challenging we completed it as a team, and I’m very proud of them! It’s very rewarding to know that we have raised funds to help support families suffering from pancreatic cancer.’

Operation Henry’s head of fundraising Marina Leadbetter added: ’It was a fantastic and successful day with support from many local businesses including a free buffet courtesy of The Dolphin Inn.

’Thank you to all participants for coming and helping to raise money and awareness for pancreatic cancer. It was lovely to meet so many new people and there were lots of personal stories linked to pancreatic cancer.

’There were some serious hills that were defeated and we were very lucky to have beautiful weather all day.’
