ANDREW Wotton has been selected to carry the Olympic torch.
The 43-year-old from Aveton Gifford works as the South West sales manager for Aggreko and was nominated by his boss.
He will be carrying the torch in Lichfield, Stafford on June 30 and says he is not nervous about the day but is just really looking forward to it. He said he is extremely pleased and proud, both for being nominated by the company and for the privilege of being part of such an event.
He has worked for Aggreko for 13 years in a number of positions working out of offices in Plymouth, Bristol and Swansea. Internal nominations were put forward by senior managers to the UK board taking into consideration voluntary work, charity fundraising and how individuals have contributed to the company over the years.
In a statement to the torch relay committee, Andrew summed up his feelings, saying: 'I feel immensely proud to be one of the individuals that have been given the opportunity to take part in the London 2012 Torch Relay.
'I have always enjoyed sport and in recent years I have competed in several half marathons and this year took on a personal challenge, a 28-mile coastal off road marathon. Now I have my own children I value even more the role that sport can play in a child's life and each Friday evening I help to coach Kingsbridge RFC under 11's team.
'My involvement with junior rugby is a small way of putting something back into the game, given the enjoyment I had as a player. I hope my involvement with the 2012 Olympics will inspire the boys to continue their interest in sport for many years.'
