MEMBERS of the public are warmly invited to come down to Ivybridge’s brand new BMX track to see what all the fuss is about.
The new facilities, recently completed thanks to the hard work of a dedicated band of the town’s BMXers, are on the site of the old jumps next to the approach road to Filham Park. They have been in use by keen riders from the town and further afield for several weeks and receiving rave reviews, with jumps suitable for beginner, intermediate and expert BMXers as well as a track for younger dirt devils.
But now, local riders are keen to show off their jumps to the townsfolk, and are running an event this weekend to showcase the sport. Starting at 1pm on Sunday, September 4, the afternoon will see a barbecue and music, with a live commentator describing the big aerial tricks sure to be performed by local riders, visiting pros and mountain bikers.
The afternoon is being billed as a chance for people to come down, see some of the top riders and have a go themselves. So whether you are an experienced BMXer or mountain biker, fancy giving it a go, or just want to see what it is all about, pop down to Filham Park on Sunday.
