TWO members of the South Hams Brewery team are taking part in the affectionately titled ‘ShitboxRally New Zealand’ in aid of the Cancer Society.

Mark and Brenda Brooking, also known as Eddy and Wild Blonde, are taking part in the challenge to drive a car worth NZ$1,700 - just over £1,000 - or less, over vast distances and variable terrain, over a full week, all in the name of charity.

Mark said: ‘Are we crazy? The short answer is yes but life needs some things that get you out of the run-of-the-mill, or in our, case run-of-the-brewery, to remind you how important our time on the planet is.

‘We are heading off to the other side of this big, blue world to take part in a crazy car rally, in aid of the Cancer Society: an organisation that is entirely reliant on fund raising to keep up its phenomenal good work.

‘There can’t be many of us who have not had our lives touched by, or known friends and family that have, experienced some form of cancer. And the research and resources provided by this organisation are helping to reduce the incidences of all forms, to give us all the chance of better lives.

‘Loving life as we genuinely do and wanting to help others get more out of theirs - we need your help in reaching our target of NZ$4000 - £2359.60. The good news is we have already donated $1000 from the coffers of South Hams Brewery, so we humbly ask for anyone who would like to give our Wild Blonde and Eddy a little push to get their banger on the road.’

The team leave for New Zealand on February 25, and you can follow their progress on Facebook and Twitter with the hashtag #shitboxrallynz
