The UK’s newly announced ‘Wedding Blogger of the Year’ says the award proves you can be at the top of your game and still live in the South Hams.

Janice Gordon, Loddiswell, runs the Green Union wedding blog, focussing on how to have a ‘green’ wedding, covering everything from stationary, venues, photography, jewellery, and other aspects of weddings that can be undertaken as eco-friendly as possible.

She has been named the ‘Business Events and Wedding Winner’ by the UK Blog Awards. Janice said she was “in shock” after hearing she had won the award, and said it was “absolutely amazing”.

She said: “When you’re living in the South Hams, its easy to feel like you’re not part of the hub or the pulse of what is going on, but to be awarded this pinnacle award shows it works.

“I get to live in the beautiful Kingsbridge area and win an award across the whole of the UK. I think you can work from home, and with the internet and social media, you van have a link to the rest of the world, you don’t have to be living in London.”

Janice said she went to the awards ceremony as a “night out at a posh hotel” and was hoping to possibly get a ‘commended’ mention, but then ended up taking home the top prize.
