I was surprised to read Gordon Roberts observations, Letters, November 24, on the Christian Comment article which appeared on November 10.
Abortion and other “life issues” are complex and deserve more detailed attention but Christian Comment is limited to 250 words and, indeed, we are fortunate that our local paper affords room for the Christian viewpoint.
A large portion of the population is actively hostile to pro-life sentiments on abortion, euthanasia and embryo experimentation which contribute to a culture of death which should not be lightly dismissed.
Of one thing I am sure; anyone who confesses to being a Christian will surely adhere to Christian teaching as embodied in the commandments, one of which states “Thou shalt not kill”.
Abortion kills the unborn and has devastating effects on the people involved.
In that connection, we are taught to condemn the sin – not the sinner.
As we get on with our daily lives, the silent screams of some unborn babies sadly goes largely unheard.
As long as I have breath, I am proud to be one of many voices speaking on their behalf.
