It is not often that the Chronicle does not report an event of significant historic interest but it seems to have done so with last week’s procession of a Georgian sedan chair round Dartmouth, accompanied by the town crier and others in costume.

This created a great deal of interest with visitors and townsfolk alike. It was extensively reported on regional television evening news but not mentioned in our local paper.

Lacunae such as this in the reporting are more significant that might be generally thought. The Chronicle is more than just a weekly welcome read – it is the primary archival source for local history researchers, both of the past and in the future. It is unfortunate that you were unable to find space for this event.
