Two books educating youngsters about plastic pollution are making their way through multiple South Hams schools and libraries.
The beautifully illustrated books, written by Cornish author Ellie Jackson, have been used extensively in schools across the UK to engage young children with environmental issues such as single-use plastic and balloon releases.
When Ella Turns and her mum, Anna, previously hosted Ellie Jackson at Salcombe Primary’s plastic clever day earlier this year, they saw firsthand how well these stories connected the children with these issues, so they were excited to be able to provide copies to more settings across the South Hams using a grant from marine conservation charity Seachangers.
Anna Turns said: “We’ve had lovely thank you messages from some of the local teachers and it’s great to hear that more children are enjoying these lovely books, plus it’s triggering more discussion about how eco-clubs can take further action too which is brilliant - that makes it all worthwhile.”
