An annual event went so well at the weekend organisers feel that after 15 years, they may finally have worked out how to make it all run smoothly.

The Lions Club of Ivybridge’s 15th annual Funday took place at the rugby club’s Cross in Hand ground on Saturday, beginning at noon and going on well into the night.

The event was run this year in aid of the Children’s Happy Hospital Fund at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth. It included stalls from all kinds of businesses and other organisations, food, drink and music galore, and activities like a bouncy castle, outdoor laser quest, a funfair, swing boats and a bouncy castle.

Although the total raised for charity is still being counted, the day was also an opportunity to hand over cheques to the Lions Club of Ivybridge’s two nominated charities for the year: Ivybridge Caring, and Special Olympics Plymouth and District. Both received a very welcome £1,200, raised through the Lions’ charity shop in Glanvilles Mill and collections throughout the year.

Vice president Adam Winzer said: "It all seemed to go very well. It looks like after 15 years, it’s all come together and we’ve finally worked out how to make it all go smoothly.

"It was a cracking day and we had the weather on our side, unlike last year. Thank you to all the performers on stage, and all the stallholders - and thank you to everyone for turning up."
