TWO hundred fit food fanatics have braved downpours to take part in the Delicious Dart Trail – all in aid of a little boy called Samuel.
All proceeds from the event went to children's cancer charity, CLIC Sargent, as a thank you from Liz and Graham Clack, from South Milton, for all the help and support they received when their two-year-old grandson, was diagnosed with Leukemia.
They felt they wanted to raise money for the charity, but in a way that was different to the usual charity marathons.
When they mentioned it to good friend Kate Treleaven, she started planning the unique event from start to finish.
The trail was based on France's famous wine marathon, the Marathon du Medoc, in which runners get to taste up to 20 different wines along a 26.2 mile route.
As the family's way of saying thank you to CLIC, they pledged to raise at least £5,000. And the target was well and truly broken with the event raising more than £5,000 through £25 entry fees alone.
