Salcombe All weather Life Boat was called up early on Tuesday evening (September 1) to check out a reported issue with a fishing boat with gearbox failure south of Bolt Head.

Once they had arrived, following a short assessment of the situation, and with the agreement of Brixham Harbour, the decision was made to tow the boat back to Brixham.

A little after 8.30pm, just south of Dartmouth, Salcombe ALB was able to safely hand the tow over to Torbay Lifeboat to continue into Brixham.

Salcombe ALB then returned to the station, where it was washed down, refuelled, and made ready for service once again.
