Salcombe History Society’s popular interactive annual slide show, “Down Memory Lane”, returns on Tuesday, October 6, presented by local historians Roger Barrett and Geoff Foale.

The evening will feature photographs of people, places and events within living memory, with plenty of opportunity for audience participation and recollection.

The photographs will look beyond Salcombe to the wider area, to Kingsbridge and the surrounding parishes including Malborough, Hope Cove and East Portlemouth, bringing together memories to create a broader picture of the history of our local communities.

Among the subjects will be the paddle steamers that once regularly travelled between Kingsbridge and Salcombe, and the ferry service linking Kingsbridge with Plymouth, before the railway, and when roads and other transport were very different from today.

The event is at Salcombe Rugby Club, Camperdown Road, Salcombe TQ8 8AX, at 7pm for 7.30pm.
