Salcombe Town Regatta will include a cycling fun ride for the first time this year, a ride of 30 miles around the estuary.

Letsgovelo are organising the first ever Salcombe Town Regatta Sportive which will take place on the Monday, August 7. The event will have one distance of 30 miles taking you around the estuary and returning back into Salcombe.

Organiser Toby Fellows said: “The Fun Ride is relatively challenging route taking you through along winding rural lanes and testing you on tough ascents meanwhile taking you past some of the best spots in the South Hams.

“The event starts at 7am from Whitestrand Car Park which is, in itself, a great stating place! Cost of entry is £20 which includes a Captain Morgan’s bacon sarnie and the ferry crossing.

“This is a great event for the local community and bringing people into the local area.”

Debbie Haines, part of the Salcombe Town Regatta Committee and who runs the local hairdressers, Cater Cove on Courtenay Street, said: “The Salcombe Town Regatta has a long tradition of putting on a great regatta and this just adds another fantastic element for people to enjoy.”
