SALCOMBE Regatta have changes the registration for the Harbour Swim to improve safety.

This year, all swimmers will need to register and wear a wristband, which will identify them at the race and ensure organisers can keep everyone safe.

Ann Thompson of the Regatta Committee said: ‘Members of the public can register on Wednesday, August 3, at the Regatta stall on Whitestrand car park between 10am-8pm. You will be issued with a wristband, which you MUST wear to the swim on Thursday.

‘NO wristband = NO entry to the water. £4 entry fee is payable at time of registration and is non-refundable. If you are not able to register on Wednesday, please come to Cliff House Gardens between 6.30-7am on Thursday, August 4, the date of the swim, to register and collect your wristband before the race – entries close at 7.15am.

‘This is strictly first come, first served and we reserve the right to close registration if numbers become too great.’

Safety information for the harbour Swim is available on page 45 of the Regatta programme, which is now on sale.
