Katharine Harrod, on behalf of Destination Kingsbridge, writes:

The state of the road signs in and around the Kingsbridge area is a disgrace. The signs have not been cleaned for some time – years in some cases.

As a result, they are dirty, unkempt and an eyesore.

When a very significant proportion of our income is from visitors to the town, it is absolutely essential that we portray the best image possible.

Groups such as Kingsbridge in Bloom work hard to ensure that the town continues to win awards and entice new people and extra revenue to the area.

The current state of our road signs and lack of action regards cleaning them is detrimental to the town and all who give their valuable time to make it a better place.

Other towns have their own 'tidy teams' who regularly undertake litter picks and sign cleaning, however, the taxpayer could argue that this lets Devon County Council and South West Highways completely off the hook.

So come on county council, when will we see some action from you that helps to keep our beautiful town a destination of choice for locals and visitors alike?
