In a recent article on Salcombe, you mention the lifeboat disaster of 1916. I should like to point out that Eddie Distin was not coxswain at the time, Samuel Distin was. Unfortunately, he did not survive.
Eddie Distin took over as coxswain when a new lifeboat was available.
Strangely, the surname is the same, but the two men were not related.
