Oh dear, the remainers camp has been out in force recently, wringing their hands and bemoaning the potential loss of their beloved EU.

I saw a TV programme some time ago, something to do with living on state benefits, where one of the participants said to an interviewer: “But we’ve always lived on state benefits – my mother did as well.”

I was quite struck by the similarity of this person’s attitude and the attitude of the remainers in their determination to cling on to their cherished ‘European nanny state’.

It’s time they grew up. Yes, you may have to work a bit harder for a while, but the rewards will be many and enduring.

At the start of the Second World War, the people of this country got stuck in and, against all the odds, triumphed – do not sully their memory or trample on the great legacy they left us all.
