I wanted to add my voice to the cacophony of those in praise of the Regatta Committee for the fantastic 2018 Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta. It was an absolute triumph!

So much to do and see, without the thousands of people who descend on the town to watch a 20-minute air display and then leave again, clogging up the roads and buses. This year it really felt like the Regatta belonged to the townspeople again.

This is not to denigrate the incredible achievements of previous committee members. Being part of a team organising any kind of event can be extremely hard work, and it is a challenge that has always been met head on by Regatta Committee volunteers with panache. But there was something about this years return to a true celebration of life on and around the river that did it for me.

So a huge congratulations to the whole team. Now have a well-earned rest, and maybe even a small celebratory glass of something. I’d say you have more than earned it!
