THE official unveiling of the Kingsbridge Community Mosaic will take place this weekend. Local mosaic artist Michelle McQuinn Farrand has beaten her deadline to finish the project which, over more than a year, has involved a wide range of groups contributing to the design and creation of five mosaic panels. With the backing of local group Sustainable Kingsbridge and the help of a Lottery grant, her workshops have brought together schools, local groups, residents and visitors with impressive results. Today at 5pm, ex-head teacher of Kingsbridge Primary School, Peter Burner, will cut the ribbon to officially unveil the mosaic. The event will take place at the mosaic's permanent home, on the side of the Peacocks building at the bottom of Fore Street, where the brightly coloured art work will welcome visitors to Kingsbridge's main shopping street. Go along to spot the mosaic pieces you or your children have put in place or the designs you have submitted and take part in the celebration prior to the opening of the Food and Music Festival. There will be a balloon artist and face painter at the opening to provide entertainment for the youngsters.
