POLICE and an ambulance were called to the Island Street Bar and Grill, Salcombe, after a man fell from the balcony onto estuary mud. The police were called just after midnight on Sunday after an altercation between a 27-year-old holidaymaker from London and an unknown man, which resulted in the visitor falling from the balcony. Police say it is believed that the victim was dancing on a table on the balcony, when he knocked over a female patron's drink. He was then pushed from the table and over the balcony. A man, thought to be a member of the Bar and Grill staff, jumped over the balcony to help the man who was left with a broken wrist and was treated by ambulance before being taken to Derriford Hospital. Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened at some point between 11.40pm on Sunday, May 25 and 00.10am on Monday, May 26. They are keen to trace a man who is described as white and in his 40s. He was wearing a grey shirt and a silver necklace. Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference CR/075985/14.
