POLICE are seeking witnesses to a fight that occurred inside The Creeks End pub in Kingsbridge shortly before 11pm on Saturday.
Officers were called to the incident which, they say, appeared to involve a group of men fighting among themselves.
Another customer, a local man in his 40s, intervened and was assaulted by members of the group.
He needed treatment for a swollen eye from ambulance staff, but was not badly injured and did not need to go to hospital.
As a result, a group of five men aged between 18 and 20, all from outside Kingsbri-dge, were stopped nearby in Mill Street.
One was arrested on suspicion of assault.
He was taken to Torquay Custody Centre, where he was interviewed the following day by CID officers.
The rest of the group were banned from Kingsbridge under powers contained within the Violent Crime Reduction Act'
The officer in charge of the case, DC Jess Fewings said: 'We know the pub was busy that night as they had a band on.
'We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the fight, no matter how much or little you saw.
'You might just hold that vital piece of information that enables us to bring a violent offender to justice.'
Anyone who can assist the enquiry is asked to ring 101, quoting crime reference JK/12/334.
