A hotel that hasn’t seen movement within it’s walls since 2013, may see a change in pace as early as the end of summer.
The Tides Reach Hotel in South Sands, Salcombe may finally see the light at the end of the long, dilapidated tunnel as Harbour Hotels prepares to start building come September.
The planning was granted permission in November of last year, and the project team at Harbour Hotels are currently preparing the requisite information to discharge all the necessary pre-commencement planning conditions such as a Flood Risk Assessment and a Environment Management Plan to ensure the building process goes smoothly.
Once this is done, they intend to commence on site as soon as possible. The project is then expected to take about 15-18 months to complete.
Harbour Hotels Agent, David Jobbins said: “Harbour Hotels are very aware of the sensitivity of the site and will work closely with the council and local residents to ensure that any inconvenience during the construction period is kept to an absolute minimum and I am confident that once open, the new hotel will prove to be an invaluable asset to both Salcombe and the South Hams.”
The new plans for the hotel include a brand new wing, and will comprise of 51 bedrooms, a bar and restaurant, a residents lounge, spa, swimming pool, ancillary service space and parking.
