A photographer who “isn’t a fan of competitions” has just been successful in his second, being awarded an honourable mention.

Paul Carruthers of Swimstones Photography has been awarded an honourable mention for two of his photos in the Monochrome Photography Awards.

Paul entered his first ever photography competition last year, when he won the prestigious British Life Photography Awards with his photo ‘Lifeguard’ of RNLI lifeguards on Bantham Beach.

This time, just his second ever competition entry, he has been awarded honourable mentions in the Professional Architecture Category and in the Professional Fine Art Category.

The two photos, one of the Harbour wall at Porthleven, Cornwall, and the other of Smeaton’s Tower, Plymouth, were chosen from 8,942 submissions from 87 countries around the world.
