Lottery for Rowcroft Hospice has reached a milestone in fundraising, raising over five million since 2004.
The lottery has been running for over 14 years and has become extremely popular with Rowcroft supporters in South Devon and beyond.
This is due to the continuous support from the local community who play the lottery and help to provide an invaluable source of income for the hospice.
All funds raised help to make every day the best possible day for patients living with life-limiting illnesses. Taking part in the lottery helps to support the hospice which provides specialist care to patients living with life limiting illnesses and their families across South Devon.
The £5m raised over the last 14 years has funded care for over £1,130 Rowcroft Inpatients which would not have been possible without the local Rowcroft Lottery players.
Ann Harrington, a reception volunteer on the Inpatient Unit who has been playing the Rowcroft Lottery for over eight years said: “It’s a small amount to give and you know where the money is going and you can see how it is being spent.
“I have also had two wins which feels very gratifying.”
Julie Fletcher, lottery co-ordinator said: “It is thanks to the regular support from the community of South Devon that has made this possible.
“It’s an incredible achievement and we are all so proud of the success.
“We would like to thank everyone who takes part, week after week. Your support is extremely valuable to our hospice.”
One winner said: ‘I was thrilled to receive the cheque for £1,000. My husband was admitted to the hospice five years ago…the kindness and gentleness received still stays with me.”
Players can sign up to the lottery for only £1 per week and will be entered into a prize draw with the chance to win one of 33 prizes given every week between £10 to £1000.
Lottery memberships can be purchased online at www.rowcrofthospice.org.uk/lottery or by calling the lottery office on 01803 210842.
Single lottery tickets can be purchased each week in all Rowcroft Hospice shops.
