A very special evening of electric, contemporary folk music is coming later this month.

Charlie Dore, one of the UK’s most respected singer-songwriters is teaming up with multi-instrumentalist Julian Littman of Steeleye Span to perform her brand new album, Dark Matter, at The Flavel.

It promises to be a fast moving show as the pair swap guitars, mandolin, harmonium, ukulele and autoharp.

Charlie is best known as a singer-songwriter, having had her work performed by many top artists including Tina Turner, George Harrison, Celine Dion and Paul Carack.

Dore has had a multi-faceted career that includes acting in film, TV and radio, comedy-improvisation and composing scores for film and TV.

She is bringing her new songs to Dartmouth including ‘Two Thousand Hour Lightbulb’, ’15 Minutes With Danny Kaye’ and ‘Personal Hell’ as well as dipping into favourites from the past six albums.

To make the performance even more special, Charlie will be sharing acoustic versions of hits Charlie has written for others, including George Harrison and Jimmy Nail.

There may even be a performance of the 1979 hit single ‘Pilot of the Airwaves’.

A spokesman from The Flavel said: “If you want to hear an amazingly astute, moving and intelligent songwriter with a voice like Kate McGarrigle meets Dory Previn-this is the place to come.”

The performance is on Friday, April 20, at 7.30pm.
