Until recently the national newspapers often referred to Sarah Wollaston MP as a rising star. But not anymore.
The completed list of members of the Government does not include her name.
This is not surprising, as she was one of the 15 Tory rebels who voted for an Opposition amendment against the Withdrawal Bill and caused the Government to be defeated.
In this, she has shown considerable lack of political acumen and is now cast into the wilderness from which recovery is at best uncertain, however the Brexit process turns out.
One is reminded of Jerome K Jerome’s wisdom on forecasting, in that those who wrongly predict a fine outcome are considered to be well-intentioned and are forgiven, whereas those who correctly predict a bad outcome are castigated.
