BRYAN SEYMOUR, of Crestway, Strete, Dartmouth, writes: Some years ago South Hams Council introduced a scheme whereby residents of the local villages – Stoke Fleming, Blackawton and Strete – could purchase a ticket for £21 allowing them to use the Park and Ride for one year. In its wisdom, the council has now raised the cost of these tickets from £21 to £100 and I fear this will be another reason for people not to visit Dartmouth. These tickets enabled local residents to access Dartmouth without the need to drive round and round Dartmouth looking for a parking space. It would be very useful if all those with one of these tickets were to write to the district council to protest – if the council gets enough complaints it may just rethink its proposal.
