David Kerr, of East Allington, writes:
Regarding the proposed four day music festival at Larcombe Farm, between East Allington and Blackawton, I am concerned that tickets are already on sale yet the public meeting is not until next Tuesday.
The organisers claim that there will be great benefits to the local community.
For myself, there will be maximum inconvenience, including a minimum of four days' lost sleep, and zero benefit.
As for benefits to the community at large, I dare say for those directly involved with parking and ticketing there will be a bonanza; as for the rest of us I expect there will be the usual stalls staffed by Eastern Europeans selling imported food and goods and a few days' work picking up litter.
On top of that, it will be next to impossible to travel anywhere locally as the venue is at the end of two miles of single track lane.
I understand that many people enjoy endless loud noise and making a mess, I'm just at a loss to understand why they pick the quietest and cleanest part of the country in which to do it.
