A MOTHER from Bigbury-on-Sea has written a book in memory of her son and to raise money for the charity set up in his name.

Angela Bond has written and published a children's book in memory of her son Jamie, to help raise money for underprivileged children in Hackney, London.

The heart-warming book entitled: 'This is a story about a boy called Jamie' tells a touching tale of a boy named Jamie, a lost kitten he befriends and the adventures they share together – an ideal stocking filler for children this Christmas.

Jamie Procter's Foundation was set up in 2010 after the untimely death of founders Angela Bond's son and Julian Bond's stepson, Jamie. The small charity aims to help inspire and motivate deserving young children from less privileged backgrounds by giving them inspirational experiences outside of their normal environment.

Angela Bond, author of the book and co-founder of Jamie Procter's Foundation, says: 'My son Jamie loved life and was a wonderful person who brought much happiness to everyone he met.

'So it seemed a fitting tribute to his life and passions to be doing something positive in his name for the good of others.

'The book: "This is a story about a boy called Jamie" was my way of bringing the spirit and fun of Jamie to life for others – particularly children – to enjoy.

'Initially it was going to be a short story for my grandchildren but then interest amongst friends and family grew, so now we have decided to publish the book for all to enjoy this Christmas but most importantly raise money for the Jamie Procter Foundation.'

In 2010, Hackney was named the second most deprived local authority in England.

The Jamie Procter's Foundation works closely with teachers in Hackney to identify children who would benefit most from new experiences, and sponsors them to go on a five-day trip to Grenville House – an adventure centre in Devon.

At the centre the children are able to experience a range of fun and rewarding activities such as rock climbing, canoeing and sailing, all of which are designed to build confidence and trust in each other and themselves.

The Jamie Procter's Foundation relies entirely on kind donations and support from individuals in order to continue its work in Hackney and Devon.
