Further to the letter about the ‘sport’ of shooting pheasants on the riverbanks at Bantham, it is hideous. Why is it allowed?
Allegedly, some of the shooters sit in boats on the river and the fat, overfed pheasants, with no fear of man, are let out of their pens and killed almost before they leave the ground.
This is making some people – not locals – a lot of money, but is not sporting in the least.
What kind of people indulge in such a pastime? The noise of gunfire is quite unacceptable to walkers and locals alike.
Is this Nicholas Johnston again, not changing anything in Bantham?
