A young girl has managed to go from entering lead rein classes to being named Champion in both Ridden and In Hand competitions.

Millie Login, 12, who attends KCC and lives in East Allington, started her equestrian career by entering a lead rein class with her pony Solly, lead by her brother Tom, in her first ever show at Duchy College in 2014.

Flash forward to this year, where, back at Duchy College, she has won Champion in both classes with two different ponies, at the East Cornwall Riding Club.

Millie won five first places in five classes, under two judges, competing against strong competition from both adults and young riders, eventually winning the Ridden Championship with her own pony Ragamuffin and In Hand Champion with Spider, owned by friend of the family Gill Ross.

Millie’s mum, Dena Login, said: “This was her first season with Ragamuffin, and he’s not a ready-made pony. She had a successful season through her hard work and training from Alex Farleigh at Dittiscombe Equestrian Centre.

“Even with school work, she’s up with me at 7am mucking out the horses.”
