John Peacock, chairman, Kingsbridge Branch Royal British Legion, writes:
With this year being the 100th year anniversary of the start of the Great War various local organisations are looking to mark the event in a variety of ways.
The Kingsbridge Royal British Legion are hoping to put on a display of memorabilia at the RBL Mill Club in Western Backway, Kingsbridge.
As chairman, I would ask if anyone has any photographs, medals letters, indeed, anything connected with the First World War which the we can display in a secure glass display cabinet as part of our tribute to those who fought in that war.
Please contact me on 01548 853900. Items can be collected and a receipt will be given.
All items will be returned to their owners or passed on to the Cookworthy Museum, whichever the owner requests at the end of the display which will probably be towards the end of the year.
Visitors to the Mill Club will be most welcome to view the artifacts during the club's opening hours.
A much larger tribute to those who served and, indeed, the families who supported the armed services, is hoped to be staged on the quay in August.
The Royal British Legion supports and honours all our service men and women who serve their country in whatever, whenever and wherever way in the world.
